The accelerated establishment of a grassroots, united, well-managed and internationally recognized and respected organization where the opposition forces to the Islamic Republic can transparently collaborate to support the freedom movement of the Iranian people with the goal of non-violent eradication of the ruling Islamic Regime in Iran, and to replace it with a democratic, secular and pro-human rights form of governance.
Principles
Protection of the national independence and territorial integrity of Iran Separation of religion from the state (Secularism) Loyalty to and support of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights Implementation of free, fair, and transparent elections, to be held after the downfall of the ruling Islamic regime, to determine Iran’s future system of governance Direct participation of all Iranians throughout Iran in their local social, cultural, political, and economical affairs
Prologue
The motivation behind the establishment of THE NEW IRAN by a group of Iranian political activists residing inside as well as outside of Iran, is the result of the Iranian people’s mass uprising and their freedom seeking Green Movement, against the continued brutalities of the despotic and tyrannical ruling clerical regime in Iran, which has sustained its immoral rule and destructive 31-year occupation of Iran, by way of severe oppression of Iranian people’s national and civic rights.
THE NEW IRAN, having systematically analyzed and scrutinized the reasons behind the repeated unsuccessful attempts of the dissidents of the Islamic Regime in Iran (“IRI”) in forming a powerful and united front during the last thirty-one years, has integrated the lessons learned and best practices from that analysis with the latest technological systems and the Internet, and devised a powerful social-political-technological framework and platform to connect all IRI opposition groups and individuals worldwide.
THE NEW IRAN, without promoting any particular political ideology or ethnic belief, invites all pro-freedom and anti-IRI individuals, political parties and civic groups to leverage THE NEW IRAN as a mechanism and framework to unite together, collaborate with one another, and to assist the ever-expanding freedom movement of the Iranian people; to mend the broken links of the IRI-resistance; and to strengthen the ties amongst all IRI-opposing parties working towards the common goal of ending this dark era of Iran’s history.

Iranis an ancient country and a nation with a rich culture that has contributed many of the “Firsts” to the human community during its course of existence. Among those are the first monotheism religion, the first dualism religion, the first socialist doctrine/religion, and the first charter of the human rights, by Cyrus the Great, over 2500 years before the compilation of the modern era’s Human Rights Charter.
Many ancient cultures survived to reach our era due to the Persian philosophy of respecting other nations’ religion, language, and culture. Iranians are known as peaceful people and for their hospitality alluding to the fact that they want and offer the best they can to their guests, whether it is a guest of one family or the guest of the Iranian nation.
Unfortunately about 33 years ago, in 1979, due to a historic situation and misfortune the plight of an Islamic regime swiped the Iranian nation and this great country. Since then torture, rape, murder, terrorism, hostage taking, violation of human rights, threatening the world’s peace, and violation of international laws have become synonymous with the name “Iran”.
Unfortunately what the Islamic regime, with its hired terror groups, inflicted on Iranians and other people was sometimes mistaken as the action by Iranian nation. Fortunately, now a day the international community has clearly separated the Iranians from the actions of the Islamic regime that is forcing its ruling on Iranian people.
This highly unpopular regime and hated by Iranians, except those who are its partners in crime, could not hold on to power without the help of some governments that realized the dire situation in Iran and took advantage of the circumstances to offer their political and military support to Islamic regime in exchange for plundering the natural resources of Iran, monopolizing the Iran’s market, and implementing their policy in the region at the price of trampling the human rights of Iranians and driving this great nations with rich natural resources into poverty and the oppression unparalleled in the modern era.
The most prominent among these countries are Russia and China with a veto power in the UN Security Council that always wave as means they can use to block or water down any tangible action against Islamic regime by the international community that can force the Islamic regime to give the power back to people, respect the human rights, stop its terrorism, or seize its nuclear ambition.
These governments must know that Iranians are carefully watching and monitoring their actions. They are very wrong if they think that Iranians, in a free Iran, will honor any unjust pact, treaty, or economic contracts they have signed with the Islamic regime. Iran will be free soon. This is a fact and inevitable. These governments will either take side with Iranian people now or will lose any credibility they may think they can hold on to in future with the Iranian nation.
The time has come and the time is now for these governments to correct their actions and abandon the way they think, which is considering people of Iran as “EXPENDABLES”.
They must realize that Iranians are awake and although under oppression they are not blind. They can clearly see who is helping the Islamic regime to exert this plight on them. If Russia and China continue their current policy of appeasing the Islamic regime and plundering the natural resources of Iran, the Iranian nation warns them that in a free Iran they will not have any place and what have been taken away from Iranians by them will not be forgotten.
Now, it is up to these governments to decide which way they want to go. The Iranian people have already made up their minds.

January 23, 2012
On January 3, 1979, at a historical meeting in Guadeloupe Island, President Jimmy Carter convinced the Great Britain, Germany, and France to back him up in toppling the Shah of Iran. Sentiment was to protect Iran from falling in the hands of the Soviet Union, thus keeping Iran as an ally of the west, thus preventing the Soviet Union to have access to the Persian Gulf Oil Fields.
President Carter initiated establishment of a new regime and government for Iran which had never been practiced or experienced anywhere around the world. The idea of replacing the Shah of Iran with a so-called "religious government" was so sudden that it surprised all Iranian politicians and took many people off-guard. By establishing a theocratic government, all Iranians were used as political guinea pigs to experience a new system. There was no proper political evaluation and analysis of the impact of such a regime, neither short term nor long term. Those who promoted this "religious government" were either knowingly trying to ignore Iran's history or did not know enough about it, that mainly our fore-fathers 100 years ago fought fearlessly to establish a constitution and create a seed for a democratic free Iran. This democratic constitution was implemented in Iranian Congress for two terms and later on, with cooperation of religious leaders (mullahs) and help of super powers at that time, was phased out.
In 1979, before toppling the Shah of Iran, western world did not look at the constitutional base for Iran, which was created at the time and no attempt was made to nurture this existing base for democracy and strengthening it for establishing a free democratic society. This would have been the best alternative, thus preventing the Soviet influence and also not having to deal with a brutal and unpredictable regime, which now controls Iran. In 1979, with slogan of human rights, western world allowed a group of mullahs to take over Iran, creating terror, massacre, fear, war, and exploitation of Iranian wealth. In the name of God and irrational justification and interpretation of Koran, mixing with superstition, this regime has caused so much damage and grief that historians will have difficulty expressing it in writing. Creation of religious-base regime which is a derivative of Islam (Shiite) and a religious constitution is neither democratic nor an article within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In The Islamic Republic's (IR) constitution one can identify what kind of mission this regime has and what type of dangerous actions they may take to reach their goal for dominancy of a theocratic government. By looking at a segment of IR constitution of 1979, in section titled Duty of Islamic Government is states: "this created a specific motivation and new field of advanced for the Muslim people and opened up the true path for the religious fight of Islam, pressing forward the struggle of committed Muslim combatants, inside and outside of country". Also in the Section titled The Religious Army, it says: "... they have responsibility not only for safeguarding of the frontiers, but also for a religious mission, which is holy war (jihad) along the way of God and struggle to extend the supremacy of the God law in the world ("against them make ready your strength to the out most of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror in the hearts of enemies of God's and your enemies, and others beside") quotation from the Quran."
Just reading those two sections shows calculating and planned intentions of expansion of Islam (Shiite), implementation of jihad, and clearly intervention in other countries for expansion of Islamic Republic’s ideology and supremacy. This is clearly against Charter of the United Nations, which advocates the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference...among States.
In 1979, no one in the United Nation (UN) made an effort to read this constitution in depth, and UN welcomed the new Iranian Islamic Republic (IR) regime with open arms. As an official member of UN, IR regime opened up opportunities inside and outside of Iran to establish its political might and combine them together for a strong and intense power struggle for the future.
From the day the IR regime took power, it has used a slogan of “down with the U.S.A” as their main policy for survival. Khamenei's ultimate goal is "down with the U.S.A" and exposing the U.S. as “the devil” to the rest of the world. It is important to know that this regime's slogan and objectives cannot be changed. This slogan is a main pillar keeping all segments of this regime together. As soon as this animosity towards U.S.A. diminishes, that day would be the start of downfall for the IR regime. Western countries and especially the U.S. should know that this regime is not serious to negotiate about anything with them. Their intention is to delay the process and have opportunity to reach their objectives by manipulating their negotiation position. In the last 32 years, all negotiations have been made with second and third rank politicians or government officials who came around the table with specific agendas that were fed to them beforehand by Khamenei. Any agreement different from Khamenei would be rejected with some phony justification and quotation or explanation from Koran or other religious book(s). Most of the meetings and negotiations with the West are orchestrated to show how democratic they are. One can see the same pattern in the election process in Iran, where they hand pick the candidates and confirm them in advance by Khamenei and the voting by people is only a show to exhibit to the outside world that they are exercising "democracy". In fact, none of the government representatives are able and have the power to make any decisions. Even Ahmadi Nejad is not allowed to take any independent actions.
The political system is a vicious circle, which everything ends up in the hands of Khamenei. The mullahs are trained, in religious schools to discuss and learn the art of negotiation by prolonging discussions around the subject, rather than finding a solution for a problem. Even in negotiations, they psychologically evaluate the opponent's willingness to their level of agreement. As soon as the mullahs find out about their opponent's threshold to agree, they immediately raise the bar and bring other conditions (which were not on the table in the beginning of negotiation) by scrambling and confusing the process. This regime may look solid from outside, but in reality, there are many fractions with a common goal to govern. There are grids of power such as military, parliament, oil companies, nuclear institutes, export, import, secret service, judiciary power, and religious center, which mostly act independently for their own interest group. The system is designed in such a way that main control is the "religious leader"--Khamenei--who directly and indirectly negotiates with those power centers for his protection and a system of control. He is able to increase or decrease the power flow of those groups as he pleases and whenever he wishes to. As a recent example, Khamenei decided to assign new army generals to the leadership positions of IRGC; at the same time, he moved many of veteran generals to be candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections. In order to have control over congress, Khamenei is adding more of his supporters to the 100 existing IRGC in congress. This creates a prelude of nullifying presidency system in the future and establishing parliament with stronger power to select and appoint a prime minister. Khamenei is a weak, power-thirsty and insecure person. Due to his insecurity, he cannot tolerate opposition and will do everything in his power to eliminate his opponent. Khamenei is able to sacrifice everything to hold on to his power and remain the supreme leader. An example of the extent of his sacrifice is shown by him giving more economic benefits of the country to IRGC just to hold on to his power. He even doesn't mind IRGC's exploiting the country through shadow economy. In 1979, western world handed out Iran (with 1.6 million square kilometer of the best strategic location of the world) and the center of the largest oil fields to mullahs' regime, not to mention providing the IRI regime access to the best science-oriented human brains in Iran.
The IRI regime is bordering 13 countries through land and sea and can create tension to any of them whenever they wish for. This regime has been pursuing a deterrent and tension policy with its neighboring countries. Instead, it would be helpful to capitalize and redirect the money flow from the Persian Gulf countries in agricultural projects and expand the tourism in Iran. It aggressively seeks to eliminate pro-democracy movements in Iran by killing, torturing, creating fear, and running the opposition out of the country.
There are over 5 million highly educated democratic minded Iranians outside of Iran. Those who are trapped inside Iran are getting brain washed and increasingly serving this regime. These supporters are capable to create crisis not only in the Strait of Hormuz, which all along the democratic opposition warned the western countries, but with the nuclear capability in hand which may not be used directly, but as a tool to create terror and scare tactics to force their objectives in the neighboring countries, especially in the Persian Gulf Area. This regime has already penetrated in southern Iraq and has eliminated footnote of the U.S. from northern part of the Persian Gulf. Next countries are Bahrain, Yemen, and others to follow.
This regime's friction with Saudi Arabia and Israel is more complicated. One may not bet the future presence of IRGC in Jerusalem, but the odds of presence of IRGC in Mecca and other holy cities are drastically increasing. President George W. Bush, Jr. once said: "Iran [is] creating World War III". This will be an under-statement, if this regime continues to equip itself with the arsenals and their terror tactics, jihad, psychological war, massacres, environmental destructions, and religious brain washing. One may not be surprised, if in the future "strategic center for international terrorisms establishes in Iran", in fact Iran is geographically and strategically best situated in that region and with neglect of international community in the last 32 years, Iran is getting to be a sanctuary for terrorism. The back-warded mullahs in Iran with their newly fabricated religious ideology that is neither accepted by neither Sunni nor Shiite Muslim leaders, creating more conflict and tension among honest muslin believers. This religious cancer is not only for the Middle East and the western countries it will penetrate to China (Xin Jiang Province), Russia (Chechnya), India/Cashmere, Central Asia, Africa and South America. One can sense a migration of mullah supporters to Canada and South America, which neatly sandwiches the United States. Presence of mullahs' network in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Baltimore/Washington corridor is getting more visible. In Illinois area, some investment projects are designed for the Iranian regime supporters to get their green cards. As long as the U.S.A green cards are on sale in hands of fanatic supporters of regime and no institution is verifying the authenticity of Iranian documents and polygraph the individuals for U.S. residency requirements, the termite of this regime will attack the social/political structure of the U.S.A. and damage U.S.A. from inside out.
Unfortunately, in the last 32 years, western world, especially U.S.A. has not had any direct information from Iranian regime. Iran has completely sealed all doors of communication with no access to hidden agendas of the regime. At the same time, supporters of regime have a free ride and access to the U.S.A. and their information system. They enjoy the U.S. social security checks and all other a amenities of the U.S, while traveling frequently to Iran to collect their paychecks from the Iranian government and while in Iran, advise the regime for a course of policy and action.
To deal with this regime, there are not many options. Herewith, four course of actions are suggested:
Option One: Short-term gain while neglecting long-term effect and damages of dealing with this religious regime in Iran. In the long run this policy will not benefit the democratic countries, since the IR regime policy is a combination of Russian roulette and poker game together (in which the opponent should hope for the best outcome in every move and action). Even the best experts in the game theory will have a hard time to fabricate a winning approach. The main unpredictable element is that the center of power of the regime (Khamenei) plays different game at any given time. Their policy plan resembles random political walks.
Option Two: Currently, there are two right-wing fractions, in international arenas, who favor intervention against the Iranian regime to neutralize its nuclear facilities by destroying the infrastructure and related activities:
a. Destruction of Iran and aggression upon the sovereign nation of Iran is neither moral nor rational. This type of action is synonymous to throwing baby with the dirty bathwater.
b. Regime will manipulate this act of war as an opportunity to set their fractional disagreements aside and unify itself (example: Iraq invasion on Iran) and they will get stronger.
c. Regime will have an alibi for nicely mowing the grass root supporters of democracy by intensified killings, jailing, harassing, and depriving the opposition from their socio-economic rights, and weaken the opposition forces and push them either to seclusion or run them out of Iran. With this option, regime will be able to exercise suppression and implementation of their ideology without any resistance.
A proper approach is for the United Nation and other Human Rights NGOs to allocate fraction of military expenses to help Iranians to organize and establish their own democratic government, thus resolving nuclear issue by keeping those facilities in good hands for peaceful purposes.
Option Three: In order for regime to get stronger and unify its supporters, they may escalate tension and create a conflict with one of the Arab neighbors, Israel (through Lebanon) or direct conflict with the U.S. forces in the neighboring countries. Consequence of this type of aggression by the regime will be to create a similar result as in option two. No one should be trapped in this type of conflict.
Option Four: The opposition groups inside and outside of Iran increasingly pursue a path for a free democratic Iran. This is the grass-root democratic movement in Iran, which is flourishing (one more time) after 100 years of passing from birth of democracy in Iran. The world witnessed a glimpse of this movement for democracy in 2009 in the so-called Green Movement. From that time on, this movement has gravitated towards a secular democratic ideology with a strong conviction for separation of government from religion (separation of church and state). Recent estimated projection by students inside Iran indicates that over 70% of adult Iranians dislike the present regime. Western world is either totally neglecting or under-estimating the power of democratic opposition inside and outside of Iran. A large segment of intellectuals, businessmen, opposition groups, technocrats, and highly experienced professionals are ready, willing and able to govern Iran towards the peaceful path of democracy. They can create political stability not only in Iran, but also other Middle Eastern Countries. With peaceful, friendly leaders in Iran, the world can breathe easier and will have a responsible global partner that other countries can count on.
It is the responsibility of all nations to get collectively united against the IRI regime and condemn this government. This regime is presently fragmented and at its weakest state since 1979, and the international community is at a crucial moment in the history to help Iran from 32 years of disaster and inhumanity in the hands of the Islamic Republic regime. And this is the best opportunity to topple this regime with help of strong oppositions by Iranians from inside and outside. Currently, efforts are being made and the opposition groups inside and outside of Iran are getting united and focused. This is the only way and the right way to succeed and while all other approaches to confront this regime may create interest or influence of other countries as the result of the internal problems of Iran and will not be beneficial in establishing a secularly democratic government in Iran, which may serve as a model for all other Arab nations in the region.
Supreme Leader "Khamenei" is getting fearful, aggressive and fanatic to expand his ideology and suppressing the people to protect his power, thus creating more resistance. He uses the army to suppress the opposition. This is clearly against regime's own constitution. Section 3, Article 147 of 1979 Constitution states: "In time of peace, the government must utilize the personal and technical equipment of army in relief operation for educational and productive ends". To keep his power, Khamenei does not hesitate to use army against Iranian people. Imagine what he can do with the people of other countries with different beliefs and cultures.
Finally, an advise for the majority of so-called "experts" on Iranian policy in the western countries who periodically appear on the national media channels. These so-called experts justify their argument by emphasizing on two points: fear of rising in price of oil, and fear of a nuclear powered Iran. They mainly focused on a short-term solution by advertising negotiating with the Islamic regime. They are missing the fundamental point that the primary regime policy is based on Khamenei's hatred towards the western countries, especially the U.S.A. Islamic Republic regime sincerely believes that U.S.A. is the cause of every problem in the world and look at U.S.A. as an evil country and the regime’s main objective is to destroy U.S.A. Islamic regime's policy is to expand their ideology beyond Iran to the neighboring countries. This regime is an enemy to Iranian people and people of the western world.
The regime believes in its goal of destruction of "evil people" in the world, and after this destruction a child who fell in a well 1400 years ago is resurrected to bring peace to the world. For this mission, the regime has created two wells in the holy city of Ghom (separately for males and females) for their fanatic believers who are brain washed to spread the government-controlled religion. In 5 to10 years, if this regime stays in power, they will eliminate most opposition forces and most of young Iranians will be enslaved to serve this regime. This regime will use every tool and tactics to destabilize the world by engaging the enslaved young Iranians. One may wonder about the price of oil as western industries get suffocated in the hands of this regime.
This regime is responsible for promoting lying within the Iranian culture by itself practicing lies. To lie has become anonymous with telling the truth, the lines between the two is so blurry that it is very hard to trust what many regime elements, whose survival depends on deceit, say. It is for this reason that dealing with this regime is a losing battle.
Finally, humanity has a moral obligation to promote democratic movements, in all parts of the world, and specifically in Iran. Whenever human race suffers in any nation due to brutality of its regime, the ultimate loser will always be the human race.

At this critical moment in history we invite all TNI members to participate more in liberation of our homeland in order to pay your debt to our mother country and to be proud of struggling for its freedom.
In future free Iran, we hope to see all TNI members standing tall, proud, and united with their compatriots, for they’ve chosen to pay their debt to their country and to struggle for its survival rather than stand aside and chose personal comfort and welfare while their homeland, Iran, has been hijacked and ruined.

Hope & Friendship
Iranians have suffered for three decades under Islamic government but they have not lost hope. Iranians are friendly people who have keen desire to be friends with other nations. Even under the extreme oppression, Iranians were the only nation in the region to hold candle vigil for the victims of 9-11 terrorist attack on American soil.
The New Iran is pleased to provide support services for journalists covering the Islamic Republic or the Iranian freedom movement.
As an umbrella organization that cooperates with such a large number of dissidents both within Iran and without, TNI is in a unique position to provide INFORMATION and ACCESS that can be obtained nowhere else.
The dissidents, activists and experts who turn to The New Iran understand the importance of the free media, and we look forward to assisting journalists with all their reporting needs.
